Gray & Son has been family owned and operated since 1908. Throughout our history, we have stood the test of time, never losing touch with our family roots. Bob Webbert
Chairman of the Board
Equipped with his master plumbing license, Bob Webbert opened a plumbing, heating and underground utility business in 1979. He came onboard at Gray & Son in 1988, when he and his father-in-law, George Palmer, decided to merge their businesses. Webbert immediately became executive vice president of the company and was promoted to president in 1993. Today, he is the chief executive officer of both Maryland Paving and Gray & Son. For many years, Webbert also sat on the board of directors (including as president in 1994-1995) for the Baltimore Country Highway Contractors Association, as well as on the board of the Maryland Highway Contractors Association. And, since 1995, he proudly has served on the board of directors for Emerge, a non-profit organization that provides homes, work, schooling and more for individuals with developmental, physical and mental health disabilities. In 2001, Webbert received Emerge’s annual president’s award for his continued service and support.
Rick Scheetz came to Gray & Son from High Concrete Group in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he was the president and chief operating officer of one of the nation’s largest precast concrete companies. Prior to his tenure at High Concrete, Scheetz held various leadership positions in the construction materials industry, including vice president and general manager for Carmeuse North America’s Industrial Sands Division and several key upper management positions for Lafarge North America. Scheetz earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Delaware, a master’s degree in mining engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, and a master’s degree in business administration from Loyola University at Baltimore.
Joel Stockbridge,
Executive Vice President
As the grandson of George Palmer, the son of Barbara Webbert and the stepson of Bob Webbert, Joel Stockbridge was born and raised into the Gray & Son family. In high school, Stockbridge started working part-time for the company during his summers off. After graduation, he joined the company full-time as a blacktop laborer. Stockbridge then transitioned to equipment operator for 10 years and – for two of those years – also served as an acting foreman for the grading division. In 2000, he became superintendent of the grading/pipe division and was promoted to general superintendent of all the divisions in 2007. Since 2012, Stockbridge has served as Gray & Son’s Vice President of Operations.
Katie McInnes
Executive Vice President
Katie McInnes has been a part of the Gray & Son family since the day she was born. Katie is the third generation of her family’s company, following in the footsteps of her grandfather George Palmer and parents Bob and Barbara Webbert.
After graduating in 2002 with a BA in Communications from New England College of New Hampshire, she returned home and immediately began learning the family business. Starting her career in Accounting responsible for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, Katie then spent a brief period in Estimating learning about take-off before transitioning into the world of Human Resources for several years. In 2011, McInnes became the Communications / Marketing Manager for both Gray & Son and Maryland Paving. In 2022, she became Executive Vice President of the company along with her brother Joel Stockbridge.
Katie is also very active within our local Community; she is a recent alumni of Leadership Baltimore County and she sits on the Board of Turn Around Inc. and is the chair of their development committee.
Christopher Eisenhart
Chief Operating Officer
Before being promoted to his current position, Chris spent the past 13 years working for Gray and Son as an Estimator and Project Manager. Prior to his employment with Gray and Son, Chris worked for Lafarge-NA and other Baltimore based contractors in the same capacity. Chris is a graduate of Towson State earning a Bachelor of Science degree.
Kieran Cronin
Chief Financial Officer
Kieran Cronin joined the company in 2021 bringing 15 years of financial management experience in the construction industry. Originally from Ireland, post qualification as a Chartered Accountant, Kieran joined CRH where his roles included Corporate Financial Controller of CRH Americas Materials in Atlanta, GA and CFO of Tilcon New York, Inc. Immediately prior to joining Gray & Son, he served as VP Finance for the O’Flynn Group, a property development company in Ireland.
Bill Leibbrandt
Vice President Site Operations
Bill Leibbrandt joined the Gray & Son team in early 2021. Over the past 30 years Bill has held several operational and senior leadership roles in the Construction, Aggregate and Concrete businesses. Beginning as a laborer in the mid-west he has worked with companies including CRH, Lafarge and Colas. Bill attended the University of Nebraska earning Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Construction Management and Architecture.
Pete Placke
Vice President/Senior Estimator
Pete Placke served Gray & Son as an estimator and project manager for 11 years before becoming the company’s Vice President of Public Estimating in 2005. Prior to his work at Gray & Son, he served as a project engineer and estimator for 11 years for Genstar Stone Products. Placke earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both civil engineering and in environmental engineering from The Pennsylvania State University. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from York College of Pennsylvania. In addition to his work at Gray & Son, Placke serves on the board of directors for both the Maryland Transportation Builders and Materials Association and the Baltimore County Highway Contractors Association.
Kevin Thatcher
Vice President - Chief Estimator
Kevin Thatcher joined Gray & Son in March 2010 as an Estimator and Project Manager. Kevin worked for various construction companies as an estimator in Illinois prior to relocating to the East Coast to work for Gray & Son. Kevin graduated from St. Louis University with an Aerospace Engineering degree.
Jeremy Dickson
Vice President Plants & Paving Operations
Jeremy brings 17 years of construction industry experience to Gray & Son. He was the former Memphis Area Manager for APAC-Tennessee, Inc, where he was responsible for all construction, asphalt, and aggregate operations in the market including four asphalt plants producing 600,000.00 tons of material annually, 7 construction crews, and 2 aggregate operations on the Mississippi River. Prior to arriving at APAC-Tennessee, Jeremy spent 7 years at Rogers Group Inc in Knoxville Tennessee as the Eastern Division Asphalt Operations Manager. Before his transition to Rogers Group Inc. Jeremy spent time in New England with serving in various quality and construction inspection roles with Tilcon Connecticut, PJ Keating Company, and Greenman Pedersen Inc.
Jeremy holds a master’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Capella University.
Barbara Webbert
Gray & Son/Maryland Paving Management Vice President
Barbara Webbert has been part of the company’s history since she was three years old, when her father, George Palmer, started working for Oscar Gray. After graduating from high school, Webbert earned an associate degree from Villa Julie College. Soon thereafter, she joined the Gray & Son office staff. She also assisted her husband, Bob Webbert, with his plumbing and utility business, supporting him with various administrative duties.
