Loader Operator

Operate a large rubber tire loader in a fast-paced asphalt production facility. This role involves periodic night and weekend shifts.

Job Duties

  1. Correctly identify and bucket stone from a size-specific stockpile into one or more plant feeder bins daily for the duration of an asphalt production run.
  2. Constantly monitor feeder bin levels and maintain an adequate level in 4 or more bins simultaneously.  While feeding bins, operate in a high-traffic stockpile area and keep stockpiles pushed up or ramped up as stock trucks deliver loads of aggregate, and be available to accurately load aggregate products onto dump trucks and trailers when necessary.
  3. Communicate by radio with the plant operators and the vehicles operating in the yard.
  4. Assist in the crushing operation by removing finished product from the working piles and depositing where appropriate.
  5. Keep the roadways around the plant, stockpiles, and crushing operations level and clear.  This includes the removal of snow when necessary.
  6. Conduct and document daily preventative maintenance on loader, grease, fuel, fluid levels, housekeeping, pre-trip inspection, etc. Keep a log of daily machine hours and code hours to the appropriate category such as asphalt production, stockpile maintenance, RAP production, and maintenance.
  7. Assist with plant repairs in any plant-down situation.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  1. High School graduate or equivalent specific work-related experience.
  2. Three to five years heavy equipment operation experience.
  3. Prefer background in road or general construction.
