Logistics Coordinator
Supervise as many as 30 to 100 truck drivers daily, schedules jobs and trucks, and communicates to drivers where they need to be.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Schedule jobs and trucks and instruct truck drivers where they need to be; prepare daily schedule and distribute; prepare time reports; meet every morning with truckers to go over schedule.
- Take orders from Superintendents about when trucks are needed; interact with Asphalt plants daily to ensure load pickups are timely and correct amount.
- Fill in for Dispatch Manager when out to include acquiring workplace permits for single-axle, tandems, low boys, boom truck and fuel trucks.
- Properly dispatch drivers from point A to point B.
- Ensure pre-shift walk around and necessary DOT forms are completed.
- Ensure trucks are brought in for preventive maintenance when notified by shop; notify shop when a repair (e.g. tire blowout) or service is needed on a truck, and when it will arrive at shop; arrange for tow if necessary.
- Utilize tracking and navigation systems to maximize efficiency with reference to over and under trucking.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- High School education required. Some college work preferred. Minimum of (2) two to (5) five years of dispatch experience in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Experience using tracking systems, preferably Samsara and Fleet Watcher.
- Viewpoint and Heavy Job experience a plus.
- Understanding or experience with site contracting and paving a plus.
