Surveyor
Responsible for measuring and mapping construction sites, and relaying information to the appropriate parties.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support field GPS & Survey activities:
- Create or oversee the creation of all necessary project GPS models from CAD files. Review and ensure high level of quality and resolve issues.
- Transfer files to grading equipment and troubleshoot as necessary.
- Oversee the setup of base stations on projects.
- Provide rough stakeout on projects where appropriate.
- Construction Survey Drone Pilot operates UAVs to capture aerial data, conduct topographic surveys, and monitor project progress, ensuring accurate site mapping and compliance with engineering specifications. They analyze collected imagery, collaborate with project teams, and maintain drone equipment for optimal performance and safety.
- Support Operations and Project Management
- As needed perform field surveys of quantity complete / remaining.
- Verify Estimated earthwork quantities and phasing on awarded jobs.
- Create as built documents as needed.
- Special design build projects when needed.
- Thought project competition assist operations in quantifying estimated, complete and final grading quantities.
- Assist in post bid close out by identifying grading quantity audits.
- Development, Training
- Continually train and develop the skills of all field employees with relation to GPS, grade control, surveying techniques, etc.
- Monitor current industry trends and new technologies and update management to any opportunities that may add to our abilities.
- Water Discharge Monitoring
- Oversee the testing and reporting for all MDEQ water discharge requirements.
- Repair and maintain equipment to include but not limited to servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing equipment that operates primarily based on mechanical and electronic principles; inspect equipment, structures or material to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects; report issue(s) to the VP of Operations.
- Actively promote and willingly support a safety conscious culture. Follow all safety regulations and company policies. Take a proactive approach to avoid potential jobsite hazards. Active participation in proactive safety programs to assist with reducing the experience modification factor. Willing participant in safety-related training programs and toolbox talks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of experience as a surveyor.
- Must have basic knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, drafting, mechanical drawing and computer sciences.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and robotic total solutions.
- May require knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Must be knowledgeable and able to use tools associated with surveying to include but not limited to chains, transits, theodolites, and plumb lines, and ability to perform minor adjustments and repairs on them.
Certificates and/or Licenses
· Professional Surveyor, licensed in Maryland by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCESS) is strongly preferred, but not required.
· Valid driver’s license
· OSHA Safety Course Certification (30 hour)
