Utility Foreman
Job Purpose
Supervise and provide direction and guidance to field employees on day-to-day operation’s activities relating to placement of underground utilities for water, sewer, and storm drain.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform jobsite quality control checks; ensure quality assurance on all phases of work; ensure efficiency and quality work relating to:
- installation of storm drain systems, freshwater systems, and sewer systems; ensure the punch list for job cleanup is completed and a documented follow up walk-through done to ensure all punch list items have been addressed.
- Provide overall leadership and direct the activities of numerous field employees; fill in and perform other field duties when needed; work with field employees to coordinate forces when possible to increase productivity; coach/mentor field employees to improve communications on the job site.
- Monitor all job site operations for compliance with contract requirements for noise and dust control, non-interruption of Government activities, and utility shutdown procedures; promote and enforce safety policies; have a solid understanding of site safety, health, and substance abuse programs to ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel at the jobsite, address basic questions from employees, and/or know where to direct jobsite personnel to get their questions answered.
- Check equipment to monitor for abuse, neglect, repairs, and utilization; work with Equipment Manager to make recommendations on new and additional equipment needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- High school education required. Strong preference for 2 to 5 years of utility experience and at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
